Our molecular genetics diagnostic laboratory provides a service for disorders that can be diagnosed by DNA testing. The situation of the laboratory within the department facilitates the discussion of individual cases between laboratory staff and clinicians. The adjacent research laboratory provides the basis for translating research findings rapidly into the diagnostic service as funding permits.

Our laboratory, designed as a Molecular Genetics Diagnostic and Research Laboratory in 1998 by scientists who trained in USA and Europe. We have been leading to use PCR tecnique and as one of the pioner molecular genetics laboratory in Turkey, we have developed a lot of innovative methods for the diagnosis of various genetic diseases frequently seen in Turkish laboratories.

According to CDC(Center of Disease Control-USA) and WHO (World Health Organisation) diagnostic laboratory standarts we have 5 different independent rooms which called as Nucleic Acid Extraction room, Solution preparing room, PCR mastermix room, Amplification Room, and Gel-electrophoresis Room for reducing false positive results. Each room have itsown tools which are not permitted to be taken out to another rooms.

All samples are tested by proficients two times with negative and positive controls.
